This quote strikes me as important because it's basically explaining why atoms are everywhere, and why they have a large impact on everyone's lives. Because everything is made up of atoms, living without them would be impossible. In this quote I feel like the author is using descriptive words to relay the importance of the statement to the reader. This quote is near the beginning of the reading and it makes me foreshadow that the rest of it will be interesting and descriptive instead of droll and boring.

Have you ever wondered whats smaller than an atom? I mean if fractals exist and we can create an infinite number of self similar objects than the same should be said of atoms. If atoms aren't the smallest molecule out there? What could come after them? Maybe there are more possibilities than we can explain with our current technology. Who knows what we'll discover in the future.
